School Admissions

Our admissions  for Reception, Year 1 to 6 are handled by Derby City Council. Further details and the admissions handbook are available on-line at Derby City Council School Admissions or by calling the Admissions team on 01332 956988.

Please note if you child attends Lakeside's Nursery this does not guarantee a place in the mainstream school. An application will need to be made to Derby City Council to join the main school.

Applying For Reception Class 

This is managed by Derby City Council. We have an admissions limit of 90 children into our Reception Year and the school is normally over-subscribed. There are short tours of the school during November and December when you will have the opportunity see the classrooms and other facilities. Please call the school office on 01332 571485 from October onwards to book a visit. 

Primary Admission

To apply for a place at Lakeside you must contact the Derby City Council Admission  and complete a prerferred choice of school form. For more information please contact Derby City Council Admissions on 01332 642729 or alternatively see the Derby City Council website.

All families must apply for a place in our reception classes even if their child attends our nursery. Details are sent out and can also be obtained from the office, this system is managed by the Local Authority (LA), not the school.

 We serve the Wilmorton area as well as the Brighton Road and Baker Street area of Crewton and Alvaston all within Derby.

 

Secondary Admission

When children are in Year 6 families apply for a place at secondary school. In the past children from our school have successfully applied to:

 Noel-Baker Academy, Merrill Academy, St Benedict’s (Catholic), Landau Forte, West Park Community, Murray Park Community, Da Vinci College, St Giles, St Martin’s & Derby Cathedral School.  This system is also managed by the LA not our school but we will assist where we can in the process of application.

 

Admission Appeals

The School Admission Appeals Code 2012 at section 2.1 includes a deadline for lodging appeals which allows applcants at least 20 school days from the date of notification that their application was unsuccessful to prepare and lodge their written appeal.

It also states that appeals for applications made in the normal admissions round appeal must be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals.
