“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like.  Design is how it works.”

Steve Jobs – co-founder of Apple.

Design and technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others' needs, wants and values.

In Design and technology, we expect all children to learn new technical skills that build upon prior knowledge and experiences, enabling them to know more and remember more. The Design and technology curriculum is carefully sequenced so that there is a clear progression of skills from Reception to Year 6, matching the expectations of the National Curriculum. Our Design and technology curriculum aims to prepare children to live in an increasingly technological world by providing them with the creative, technical and practical expertise to perform everyday tasks confidently. We expect children to have the knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to design and make high-quality products for a wide range of users and purposes, and be able to critique and evaluate the work of themselves and others.
